Can I use Blomdahl Piercing Aftercare Swabs on newly pierced ears?
Yes. Blomdahl Piercing Aftercare Swabs are designed for cleaning newly pierced ears during the healing period. Each swab is individually packed for hygienic, single use and can be used to gently clean around the piercing at the front and back of the ear.
How many packs will I need during the healing period?
Each pack contains 24 individually packed swabs.
For newly pierced ears, we recommend cleaning the piercing twice a day — morning and evening. If you use one fresh swab per cleaning, that means approximately 2 swabs per day per ear.
As a general guide, for both ears pierced:
Lobe piercings — around 6 weeks: approximately 7 packs
Helix/cartilage piercings — around 12 weeks: approximately 14 packs
For a single piercing, you would generally need around half that amount.
If you need additional cleaning after activities such as swimming or exercise, you may need more.
The exact amount can vary depending on how you clean the piercing.
Can I use the swabs after swimming or exercise?
Yes. They are particularly convenient after swimming, exercise or when you're away from home. Gently clean around the piercing at the front and back to help remove residue and keep the area clean during the healing period.
Do I need to rinse or dry my ears after using the swab?
No. There is no need to rinse the area with water or dry it with a tissue after cleaning. Simply clean around the piercing with the swab and allow the area to air-dry naturally.
Can I use the swabs if my piercing is irritated or looks infected?
Blomdahl Piercing Aftercare Swabs can be used to gently clean around the piercing and help keep the area hygienic. However, they are not intended to treat an infection. If you notice increasing redness, swelling, warmth, pain, discharge or other signs of infection, seek advice from a healthcare professional.
